Princess Estelle Baptism

This morning was an early morning for myself as I had to get up early to watch the live Baptism of Princess Estelle on Svt.se. The baptism was absolutely perfect in every way & Estelle behaved amazingly for a child who is only around 3 months old! Prince Daniel is obviously very much in love with her, but, who wouldn't be - she is the most adorable baby I have ever seen!

The Godparents of Princess Estelle are (& I predicted these to my sister!): HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, HRH Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, HRH Prince Carl Philip of Sweden & Mrs Anna Westling Soderstrom.

Other royals in attendance included HM Queen Margrethe of Denmark, HRH Prince Henrik of Denmark, HRH Princess Maxima of the Netherlands, HRH Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, HRH Prince Philippe of Belgium, HRH Princess Mathilde of Belgium & Princess Martha Louise, Ari Behn & The Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg who was accompanied for the first time outside of Luxembourg by his fiancee Countess Stephanie de Lannoy. Also in attendance were the wider members of the Swedish Royal Family, Princess Madeleine, King Carl XVI Gustaf & Queen Silvia.

The Westling family were also represented well, headed by proud Grandparents Olle & Ewa Westling, who sat behind the King & Queen throughout the ceremony. Friends also filled the Royal Chapel such as Caroline Dinkelspiel, Caroline Kreuger Nilsson, Leonie Persson, Jesper Persson & Josephine Genetay. As the Swedish press reported the yesterday Prince Carl Philip's girlfriend, Sofia Hellqvist & Princess Madeleine's boyfriend, Chris O'Neill were in attendance - which is hopefully a sign of at least one Swedish royal engagement this summer!! Fingers Crossed!!

One of the most moving scenes of the baptism was when King Carl XVI Gustaf presented Princess Estelle with the Order of the Seraphim. He looked like a very proud Grandpa!! The Christening gown worn by Estelle has been worn by each member of the House of Bernadotte since 1907. The water that Estelle was baptised in was poured by Prince Carl Philip from Oland, after speeches by Crown Princess Victoria & Crown Prince Haakon. I will have more news & photos posted tomorrow - so stay tuned!!
